We're Still Around

First off, let us just wish everyone a very belated Happy February as well as a belated Happy Valentine's Day. From the looks of it, Spring has sprung rather early for the most of us, and it's quite strange. What's unfortunate, is we haven't been able to get out and enjoy it as much as we'd like, but that's quite alright, we've got very good reason, and we shall be changing that all soon enough.

We're pretty sure that all of you are wondering how life is going with a newborn, and we'll be honest in that it's been stressful, pleasurable, nerve-racking, blissful, fearful, and joyous all wrapped into one. We've done quite a bit with little Miss Dinah since she's come into this world. A few weeks back we made a trip up to Cumberland Gap NHP just to get of the house for a while. We had been cooped up for a while and Robin was climbing the walls. Dinah made her first, but likely not last trip to the Iron Furnace at Cumberland Gap. Of course she was oblivious to the whole thing. What did you expect? Infants sleep, a lot. Well, at least when they are feeling well.

After the trip to Cumberland Gap, a week later, we made a trip out to the Great Smoky Mountains NP just for a casual drive and to get out of the house for awhile. We drove to Cades Cove and drove around the loop. It was nice getting out again and this time as a whole family, 'ceptin' Clover Beene. Since Dinah come along, poor Clover Beene has had to stay home more often than not. We totally need a larger vehicle.

What else has been going on? Well a couple of weeks ago, the little bug had a little bug (a stomach bug to be exact). Let me tell you, that wasn't fun at all, for her or for us. Lot's of sleeplessness and a full night of scream-fest. It's not fun for the youngin's at that age, luckily, they won't remember any of it. For the parents however, it can be quite trying especially when you have that helpless feeling, because there's nothing you can do to fix it. You just have to stay calm and steadfast to deal with the crying/screaming and to continually comfort them as much as possible. Luckily, by the end of that weekend, Dinah was on the mend and so were we.

This past weekend, Mawmaw and Pawpaw came to town to see the little booger. It was nice to have them up for the weekend. We didn't do a whole lot but we did manage to make a trip to Gatlinburg to walk around a bit and visit some of the shops. Heck Dinah even got her picture made inside Ole Smoky Moonshine Shop. Of course looking at the picture, you wouldn't have guessed it. After that she made her first trip inside a restaurant and did amazing, heck, she slept through the whole trip, after all that's what infants do best at least when they finally go to sleep. It seems that our little horker is alot like her daddy and her momma when it comes to sleep in that daddy doesn't want to go to sleep for fear of missing something and momma can't hardly sleep because everything wakes her up being such a light sleeper.

Anyway, that's what we've been up to the past few weeks. With the new year and the new baby, there have been many changes in our lives. As for the blog, well we aren't going away, but I can definitely say we won't be blogging as often as we used to. Don't be dismayed though, because when we do get the time, it should be a good read, well at least entertaining as we share our trials and tribulations of raising another youngin' in the outdoors. That should totally be a hoot. As for other changes, having a little one really makes what time you do get for other things completely precious. With that being said, you probably won't be seeing much of us on the social media outlets unless it's to mention a new post of something. We can honestly say, life is just as good if not better without constant contact with Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc. We guess you can say that having the little bit has made us simplify our online lives and well for Tim, that is a really good thing, at least for Robin's sake.

Until Next Time, Happy Trails everyone,
Tim and Robin
